About us

Engineer At Large, Inc. is a professional sound and broadcast engineering company providing complete production services for live television, sports, corporate, and location-based productions. We specialize in broadcast-grade audio, video engineering, location sound, sound reinforcement, and lighting—delivering reliable results in high-pressure environments.

Founded in 2005, Engineer At Large is led by Daniel Johnson, President and CEO, whose career spans more than 20 years in live production and broadcast engineering. Dan began in sound reinforcement, working venues from Red Rocks to nightclubs and managing complex live events. He later became a trusted technical resource for the film and video industries, designing custom audio and video solutions for challenging production environments and earning a reputation for solving problems others couldn’t.

Dan spent five years as a Broadcast Engineer and Engineer in Charge for live television productions, maintaining broadcast studios and post-production facilities while overseeing multiple simultaneous shoots without missing air. Since 2001, he has also served as Video Shader for the Denver Broncos and continues to work as EIC and Video Engineer on live production trucks for sports and broadcast events nationwide.

Engineer At Large is trusted for calm execution, technical precision, and consistency under pressure. Our clients include ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox News, Fox Sports, ESPN, Discovery Channel, Food Network, HGTV, and more.

If you’re looking for experienced, broadcast-ready engineering and sound you can rely on, we’re ready to help.
